タテ割りとヨコ割り
バランスのとれた人は 人間味豊かで親しみやすい
以上に述べたことは、人間の評価のむずかしさにも通ずるものがあ ろう。二、三のタテ割りの試験科目の点数だけで判断することは、危 険だという意味である。たしかに今の社会は、タテ割りの軸で切った 上位の人たちが、指導的役割を占めている。だが実際に世の中を動かし ているのは、各軸ごとの成績は中位でも、バランスのとれた名もなき人 たちではないか。天は二物を与えない。頭のいい人というのは、とかく くせがあって馴染みにくかったりするものだが、バランスのとれた人は 人間味豊かで親しみやすい。頭のいい人はたしかに大事だが、バランス のとれた人もまた、社会構成上欠くことのできない要素である。だが今 までの評価法では、そういう人たちのよさは浮かんでこない。思うに生 物はきわめて複雑な構造をもつものだから、タテ割りだけで評価するこ とには無理があるのであろう。
